Al-Wadiah is an Islamic safe-keeping contract in which goods, such as gold, are held by an institution for a specified period in exchange for a pre-agreed fee. Customers have the option to pledge the Safe Keeping Receipt as collateral to obtain a Al-Qard Al-Hasan (benevolent loan), which is a capital-guaranteed, interest-free loan. The loan is repaid without any charges or markup, and the lender is assured of the principal amount, regardless of the borrower’s financial outcome.
